The Toyota Land Cruiser is a world-renowned off-roader with a unique history. It started in 1950 as an order from the U.S. government needing 100 vehicles for the Korean War effort based on the specifications set by Willys. The U.S. tasked Toyota with manufacturing the vehicles, and by 1951 Toyota had the Toyota "Jeep" BJ prototype ready. The prototype was the first vehicle ever to climb to the sixth stage of Mount Fuji. The Japanese National Police place an order for nearly 300 after witnessing the feat.
The Toyota FJ40 carried on that extremely impressive off-road ability and ended up being the longest running and most iconic generation of the Land Cruiser. With a total production run spanning from 1960-2001, there's no doubt that this vehicle has had an important role in automotive history. The FJ40 was a massive success in South America, where tough off-road vehicles are a necessity in many places. This 1982 example was imported from Venezuela and has recently gone through a nut and bolt restoration to return it to its original glory.
Under the hood is the sturdy 4.2L 2F inline 6-cylinder engine mated to a 4-speed manual transmission and a dual range transfer case. It also features Aisin locking front hubs, solid front and rear axles, front power disc brakes, air conditioning, and more! An upgraded suspension with lift comes by way of Old Man Emu, a well-known name in the off-roading world for their super high-quality products. Other features include a new 9,500lb winch with new winch plate, BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A tires, diamond plate rear step, swing-away rear mounted spare tire carrier, and freshly zinc-coated latches. The exterior is finished in a bold shade of red with accenting white roof, grille, wheels, and dual side view mirrors.
The interior sports black vinyl upholstery with bucket seats and a locking Tuffy center console with padded black vinyl armrest and cupholders. The rear seats offer a unique experience for your passengers, and fold up out of the way when extra cargo capacity is needed.
